Highly detailed, coloured pencil portraits of your much loved pets.
Like me, I’m sure your pet or pets play a huge role in your life and are much loved members of your family.
I would love to create a high quality colour pencil drawing of your pet, for you to treasure.
I understand that it can feel like a daunting process to commission a piece of art for the first time, so here I have tried to break down all the stages in as much detail as possible, so that you can feel comfortable with the process that we will go through together to create a piece of artwork that you love.
Creating your Pet Portrait
I am primarily a colour pencil artist, so I will create your pet portrait by building up layers of colours in fine detail to create a life-like drawing of your pet.
Head and shoulder portraits are my preference with plain backgrounds, as these really bring out the personality in your pet’s face without lots of other distractions. I am happy to create full animal drawings with or without backgrounds, but there will be an additional charge for a background depending on the detail required. Please see my prices page for further details.
I use quality archival acid free papers and lightfast professional artist quality colour pencils in all my work. Using these quality materials ensures that your picture will last, without fading over time which can happen with more inferior artist materials.
I will create your artwork by using a photograph that you provide me with, as my reference. I provide a comprehensive hints and tips sheet, that you can use in order to take a photo of your pet that will give the optimum detail to produce a really great artwork.
Overview of the pet portrait process
- Take plenty of photos of your pet and then choose 3 or 4 that you really like.
- Contact me with your details and rough details of your requirements. e.g the type of pet you have and an idea of what you have in mind.
- We will discuss your requirements further and talk about timescale and prices. I will go through your chosen photos with you and together we will come to an agreement on the most suitable image.
- Once you are happy to go ahead, I will need you to confirm your booking with 25% deposit and complete a booking contract.
- I create your pet portrait and if you would like to see progress reports, then I’m happy to keep you up to date through the process.
- Once your portrait is completed, I will send you an image of the final portrait for approval.
- If you are happy with your finished piece then your balance will be required before framing or shipping.
- I will arrange framing if required and arrange your portrait to be safely shipped to you.
Prices
The price of your pet portrait will depend on a number of factors such as the size of the final artwork, how many pets you wish to include and whether you would like your pet portrait framed or just mounted ready for framing.
Timescales
Creating detailed pet portraits is time consuming and so it is unlikely that I will be able to start your pet portrait straight away. I run a bookings diary and will be able to give you an idea of availability when you make your initial enquiry. You will have an accurate date for when I can start your portrait when you confirm your booking.
Average booking times are around 6 weeks, though I will close my bookings diary if it becomes too full and will be happy to add you to my waiting list.
If you need your portrait for a specific date, then please discuss this with me and I will see if I am able to help.
