How does the pet portrait process work?

Initial Enquiry and Agreeing Details

  • Firstly, send me an email or fill out my contact form with your details and a brief explanation of your pet/pets, how many pets you would like to include and any other information that might be relevant. This is just an initial enquiry, you are under no obligation and these only need to be rough details.
  • I will then contact you to discuss your requirements further and give you an estimated price based on what we have discussed. I will also advise you of my availability and timescale to create your pet portrait.
  • If you are happy to proceed further I will give you information on where to send your pet’s photograph. If you have any questions on the type of photo that is suitable we can talk about this in detail. You can also check out my page  ‘Tips on how to take a great pet photograph’ for more information. I’m happy to receive more than one photo so that we can choose the most suitable.
  • Once I have received your photos, I will go through them in detail to see which ones would be the most suitable and then we can decide together on the final photograph that I will use to create your pet portrait.
  • After deciding on the agreed image, we will discuss sizing, paper types and colours and whether you would like your artwork framed. All portraits will have a card mount included in the colour of your choice. If you require your portrait to be framed then I can send you frame options for you to choose. I can only frame uk portraits as it is too risky to send framed prints overseas due to insurance restraints and the risk of damage.
  • We will agree a start date for your portrait.
  • Once everything has been agreed, I will send you an agreement form with all the details that we have talked about and what is expected from both parties.
  • At this stage, I will require a 25% deposit to secure your booking.

Creating Your Pet Portrait

  • Your portrait will be started at the agreed date, unless there are further agreements between us to start it earlier or later.
  • It is up to you whether you would like to receive any updates as I create your pet portrait, or whether you would like it to be a complete surprise once finished. I’m happy either way.
  • Once your pet portrait has been completed, I will send you a sample image of the finished piece for your approval.
  • If there are any final tweaks that you feel are necessary, the these can be done now. Once I have your full approval of the finished piece the balance will be payable in full.

Mounting and Framing

  • After I have received your payment in full, including the cost of any framing, I will arrange for your pet portrait to be mounted and if you require it to be framed, it will be passed on to a professional local framer. At this stage I will be able to give you an estimated time for delivery as this will depend on how busy the framer is.

Shipping

  • I will package your portrait securely to be shipped safely to you as soon as possible. The type of packaging used will depend on the size of your portrait but there will be plenty of protective layers to make sure it arrives with you in perfect condition.
  • I use a Royal Mail tracked and signed for service that is fully insured. In the unlikely event that your portrait is damaged or lost on it’s way to you, then a replacement portrait will be undertaken unless any damage can be repaired, in which case it can be shipped back to me for repair.

I really look forward to creating a beautiful representation of your much loved pet.
